Curfew for Teens

What is an appropriate school night curfew for a young teen?

An appropriate school night curfew for teens is 9:00 to 9:30 p.m. It usually takes them time to prepare for bed, and unwind from their day. Most teens actual bed time ranges from 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. Curfews will need to be adjusted for after school activities, such as sport practices and games.

Due to growing, changing and delevoping, young teens require more sleep. Stress might also factor into this. A "good nights' sleep" helps them perform better. As young teens grow older, curfews will need to be adjusted.

Although, personally, my daughter balked at her school night curfew at that age, she gradually became grateful for it. She was able to perform better mentally and physically at school and sports. She also had an excuse to " bow out" of any social activities that she didn't want to participate in. Her curfew was also used to excuse herself early from a boring activity.
